We use computers to review images on digital photography courses. We also offer short beginners computer courses to show you how to organise, protect, and prepare images for printing.

The following one day courses for digital and film photographers are in Little Bytham, situated between Grantham and Stamford, 10 minutes drive east of the A1.

GENERAL COURSES

new TO DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY – DIGITAL photography FOR BEGINNERS(DAY COURSE)

A tried and proven beginners course which will help you to get more from your camera and help you to understand the digital process in a methodical way. This is a course for anyone with a new digital camera,or who has never used anything but the auto setting on their camera!

During the day we will guide your through the digital process in a series of easy steps- honest!. Following a brief look at how to set up and handlee your camera , we show you how to use your camera in a variety of everyday situations. There will be an opportunity review the pictures you took on the computer and we will look at easy ways to handle digital images, with lots of tips on how to share and use your pictures.

Small groups, and a practical approach will ensure you get individual help, and there will be plenty of time to answer your questions about digital photography during the day.

IMPROVE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY- taking better pictures (DAY COURSE)

A very popular course for people who want to take better pictures and turn snaps into photographs!

We will show you how to set up your camera and make better use of the picture modes so that you can become more confident and consistent in your photography in a variety of situations. Practical sessions will include taking better pictures of views, including people in pictures , and we show you how to capture close-up detail. Composition and lighting are also explored in each session, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions so that you can get it right. We finish with a practical portfolio session so that you can try out what you have learned during the day. We use our proven step by step system, providing summary sheets to back up each practical session. You also get the opportunity to review the pictures you take during the day .This is an ideal workshop before a holiday or special occasion, where you will have many photographic opportunities and want to get it right !

THEMED COURSES

PEOPLE AND PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY (DAY COURSE)

Learn how to use your camera to take better pictures of people. This course is best suited to users of more advanced compact, super zooms and SLR cameras. We will look at different styles of people pictures, including candid and reportage style as well as how to take better posed photographs. You will use natural and artificial light and and we will include taking pictures in a variety of settings outdoors and indoors in both large and small venues . You will find out how to be more confident in setting up your “shots” , use your camera and develop a more "creative" style, as well as how to deal with people as subjects so that you get the sort of picture you want. The course includes a "studio" session to cover the use of lighting and backgrounds. At the end of the day we will review your images and provide you with comprehensive summary hand-outs for each photographic style, for your own use at home. Photography Bookings

CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY- GET MORE FROM YOUR CAMERA (DAY COURSE)

A course for photographers with more advanced cameras such as super zooms and SLR cameras. This day will help you to develop your photographic skills, become more creative, and get more out of their camera. Our sessions use a variety of photographic subjects where we will show you how improve your creative photography including the use of lighting, colour, movement, and creative use of focus. We will try out indoor studio as well as outdoor venues to develop your understanding of these key elements in taking better pictures, and we will introduce some of the more advanced features of your camera to make the most of its creative controls .This is an ideal course to try out your camera accessories, such as different lenses, flash, or a tripod. We will review the images you take and will provide comprehensive summary hand-outs for your own use.

TUXFORD WINDMILL - IMPROVE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY- (NEAR NEWARK) NEW course

Based at the historic working Tuxford windmill (Tuxford , Nottinghamshire) this course will show you how to get more from your digital camera and improve your photography. Our photographic sessions will be based in and around the mill and will include windmill landscapes, including people in pictures, and how to take better close-up and more creative shots.We will show you how to set up your camera and use appropriate modes and settings, as well as thinking about better composition and lighting. We use our proven step by step guide to photography, and provide summary sheets to back up each practical session. You also get the opportunity to review the pictures you take during the day with lots of photographic tips. STEAM WORKING DAY AT NENE VALLEY RAILWAY (NEAR PETERBOROUGH)

A popular course during a working steam day , with a wonderful opportunity for us to guide you through the best ways to take trackside shots of arriving and departing trains, views from the signal box, and to take pictures on the locomotive footplate (in station). We will also do some creative and close-up pictures in the sidings and loco maintenance sheds, including areas which are not usually accessible to the general public. There will be a chance to review your images and we will provide summary sheets for each of the picture styles we cover during the day. This course is based at Nene Valley railway at Wansford Station adjacent to the A1, west of Peterborough.

PHOTOGRAPHY AT SHEFFIELD BOTANICAL GARDENS

Put the “photo” back into photography on a one day course at Sheffield Botanical Gardens. Learn how to get much more from your digital camera, as we guide you through a step by step approach in a series of practical photography sessions based at the gardens. We have access to the gardens and glasshouses for this course. We will review the images you take and will provide comprehensive summary hand-outs for your own use at home. Small groups ensure you get the most form your day.

Creative Garden Photography

Exploring colour texture and form using garden subjects. This course includes an introduction to simple studio techniques to explore composition, lighting, selective focus and using backgrounds.

A great day for anyone wanting to get more from their digital camera and explore a more creative approach in taking pictures, and ideal for more advanced compact users (superzooms) or SLR users.

A NEW garden photography making the most of Cambridge Botanical Gardens and the specialist plant growing areas. Themes include garden landscapes, plant portraits and introducing close-up detail and "garden cameo" shots. A choice of four seasonal half day garden photography courses run as part of the Royal Horticultural Society 2010 events programme held at Easton Walled Gardens, near Grantham Lincolnshire.
